Message from the Principal

Message from the Principal

Upon the commencement of my first year of Principalship, I am welcomed and gifted with the privilege to witness—with immense pride and gratitude—our students’ strong performance in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) and their promising further-study pathways. Our steady upward trajectory has reflected not only students’ diligence and resilience in learning, but also the professionalism of our teachers and the steadfast partnership between home and school. My heartfelt congratulations are to all students and sincere appreciation to every member of staff.

Academic highlights
  • Core subjects’ robust performance: For three consecutive years, the passing rates in Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, and Citizenship and Social Development have consistently exceeded a high level of 95%.
  • This year, among 16 subjects, 13 recorded a higher percentage of Level 2 or above than the territory-wide figures.
  • In 7 subjects, including Chinese Language, English Language, Chinese History, Geography, Biology, Health Management and Social Care, and History, the percentage of Level 4 or above surpassed the territory-wide average.
  • In 4 subjects, namely Chinese History, Health Management and Social Care, Geography, and History, the percentage of Level 5 or above also exceeded the territory-wide average.
Further studies and pathways
  • The number of students meeting the “332A” university entrance benchmark rose compared with last year.
  • Nearly 60% secured JUPAS degree offers; over 90% met post-secondary entry requirements (222A2)—an unfalteringly encouraging result.
  • Admissions to the “Big Three” universities (HKU, CUHK, HKUST) increased significantly over last year.
  • Students’ chosen programmes span nursing, social sciences, business and management, accounting, information technology, environment and sustainability, history, Chinese language and culture, education, creative media, fashion, performing arts, and more—demonstrating adaptable  planning and effective use of multiple pathways.
  • Through SNDAS (School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme) and SPN (School Principal’s Nominations), students were admitted to HKU and CUHK—an inspiring affirmation of their potential.
  • From core to elective subjects, multiple achievement indicators (Level 2+, Level 4+, Level 5+) were above territory-wide figures or showed an uptick, reflecting the effectiveness of our curriculum and pedagogy, as well as students’ growing strength in life planning.
Words of thanks

My heartfelt thanks are devoted to our dedicated teachers for their tireless work; warmest congratulations to our students for their prowess and perseverance; and sincere appreciation to parents and alumnae for their unwavering trust and support.

Looking ahead

Together with my team, I will continue to strengthen our student-centred teaching and learning. As the new Principal, I will join everyone in classrooms, on the sports     grounds, and alongside our students—listening to their needs and helping each one discover her direction and shine in her own way at True Light. Let us make great today greater tomorrow. Shall all of us behold, with avid anticipation, an even stronger year ahead.
