2024 Joint-school True Light UK Summer Tour
In August 2024, students from four different True Light schools participated in the UK Summer Tour. Between the 4th and the 19th of August, the group visited London, a city renowned for its rich history, culture, and iconic landmarks. The tour united students from diverse backgrounds to explore significant museums, historic sites, and prominent attractions throughout the city. From Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre to the Harry Potter Studio, students savoured the literary journey spanning from ancient to modern times. Participants also formed new friendships and gained insight into various cultures and traditions.
This trip held great significance as it provided students with the opportunity to engage in travel and educational experiences once again after the pandemic. It emphasised the importance of cultural exchange and interpersonal connection beyond the classroom through the provision of valuable knowledge of history, culture, and social interaction. The UK Summer Tour was not merely an overseas outing; it represented an opportunity for personal growth, cross-cultural understanding, and lasting memories.
We were in London!
During my 2-week stay in London, I had many unforgettable experiences. One of the highlights was visiting Harry Potter Studios. There were so many props from the movies, and all of them were magnificent. Aside from that, I visited several museums, such as the Maritime Museum and the Natural History Museum. Not to mention during the lessons, I made some new friends. I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and I’m looking forward to coming back one day. 2A Lucy Dong Zi Qi |
At the start of this London trip, I had been so worried that I wouldn’t have any friends and would be left alone. Luckily, I made many friends from different countries and really enjoyed the time I spent with them. They shared many things about their cultures and I learnt a lot. I was so sad when I had to say goodbye to them. I know not everything lasts forever, so we took many pictures to keep the memories and promised each other to stay in touch.
Besides that, I have learned to appreciate the people I met on this trip and gained a deeper understanding of London’s rich historic culture, which I find truly inspiring. I would highly recommend my friends in Hong Kong to visit London and experience the culture I have come to know. Lastly, if this trip is organised again, I will strongly encourage other students to join. 2B Chloe So Ka Po
