Ever wondered how a book comes to life? On 3rd Oct, our students from the Library Club attended an activity organized by the Institute of Print-media Professionals called The Birth Of A Book《一本書的誕生》!
The 3-hour workshop was eye-opening. After a talk covering topics about print-media, from the roles of print-media to how to design and make a book, and even the demonstration of design software, we took on a tour of book display, where we were fascianted by different styles of books. We were all amazed by a book with its pop-up effects and another one with a fur designed cover!
The last event was visiting the actual printing arena. The tour demonstrated the high-speed offset printing machines and digital printers in action; how the CMYK colour separation applied on paper; and how large-print sheets were cut, folded and bound into complete books.
It has been an amazing experience for us ! There’s also a competition for this activity later in the future where we would need to make our own books and compete with other schools !
