The 38th Student Union Inauguration Ceremony 2016
14th October was an important day for the 38th Student Union, Lucilla, of Hong Kong True Light College. It was the day of their Inauguration Ceremony. Lucilla, meaning ‘Light’, will serve our schoolmates by acting as a bridge between the school and students in the year 2016-17.
In the beginning of the ceremony, the chairlady of the 37th Student Union delivered her annual report. They had organized a wide range of activities such as Inter-class Dodgeball Competition, Running Man and Singing Contest. All the events were well-received. We are very grateful to have such a good Student Union leading us last year. They can be totally the role model and inspiration of Lucilla.
After the speech, we had the Passing-on-the-Light Ceremony. The committee members of previous Student Union lighted up the candles hold by the coming members one by one. The whole process represented the passage of wisdom and responsibilities to the new Student Union committee members. Then the whole school stood up and sang the Student Union song. We are so proud of the new Student Union which we elected ourselves by casting our individual votes.
Our Guest of Honour, Miss Lee Ching Nga, then delivered a speech. She is a nutritionist. She highly appreciated the efforts and time that our Student Union committee members have spent to serve our schoolmates. She reminded us that our attitude can determine our future and being passionate in what we are doing is a key to success. Her sharing was very meaningful and inspirational.
All our schoolmates are looking forward to participate in activities organized by the new Student Union. Hopefully, they will keep the promise that they made in their campaign - “ to do the most, to show the best”. (4B Jody Lui and 4B Shaiana Po)
